It’s important to understand that not all supplements are created equal.
There are 2 types of supplement companies. The first is the kind that you can find at your local pharmacy, Costco, or supplement store. The goal of these companies is to compete for shelf space and often they’ll compete on price to sell high volumes. They can compete on price because their ingredients are cheap to produce. Unfortunately, these cheap ingredients are often not absorbed by the human body. Worse yet, they can often cause more harm than good.
The second type of supplement company are the pharmaceutical grade brands that don’t compete for shelf space. They are not found in stores, but rather only certain certified health practitioners are granted the privilege of selling them to their clients. The ingredients used in these supplements are actually absorbed by the human body and have the desired effect – to improve health. One example is folic acid or folate. Folic acid is super cheap, but it can have toxic effects on the body, whereas the latter (folate) is literally 100 times more expensive but it resembles more what is found in nature and is much better absorbed by the body.
Something to think about:
What’s more expensive?
Cheap supplements that don’t work or worse cause damage to your health that could incur a cascade of medical bills,
OR
pharmaceutical / medical grade supplements that cost more per bottle but actually have the desired effect on your body to help make you healthier?
In this case, less is more. You’re better off taking less quality supplements that actually improve your health than taking more of the cheap kind thinking more is better…
